  • A wider range of movement and combat mechanics

  • A functional inventory: find, equip and a veriety of items to modify your player's stats.
  • The much anticipated boss fight!
  • Our first try to a dynamic soundtrack.

Constructions ahead!

We're renewing our office space!

Since a year ago we've been working an a very old flat that now is leased as very cheap office space. It's not that bad, it has been working out for us so far. The main issue with it being that is partitioned in small rooms, and only one of them have good AC. Our climate features extreme cold on winter, and extreme hot in the summer... So at the end of the day, the entire team spend most of the year crowded on that litle room.

So we discussed the situation with our lessor, and signed a long term contract with them to keep a our discounted leasing rate. And the money we're saving long term, we're investing it redesigning our current working space, so the space itself become a helping factor in our team's productivity!

The entire team, crowded in the only room with AC.

Construction team starts next week, and while they do their thing we are going to be working on a temporary space, at our friends' EspacioRES!

We're going to record a lot of video to show the process of the 'before' and 'after' ;)

Full steam ahead!
over 6 years ago – Tue, Oct 17, 2017 at 01:39:52 AM

Hi, Blasphemous' people!

During the month of September, we've been finally shifting the gears from the "high exposure" operation of the funding campaign to a more focused and productive mode. We're now full steam ahead towards our next prototype, fully focused on gameplay mechanics.

This is some of the stuff we've been busy with:

  • A second draft of the game design document has been crafted, expanding the details on the mechanics we want to experiment with in this next phase.
  • The requirements of the next prototype (due before the end of the year) have been laid out, and a detailed production plan was created to take us there.

  • The code base of the aesthetics prototype has been fully refactored to support the delivery of the upcoming gameplay features.
  • A new, revamped level design toolset has been put together, enabling the longer, richer levels we're going to need from now on.
Level building toolset (and a new type of enemy) in action!

  • We've completed a first draft of the game's lore, narrative and world map.
  • A variety of new enemies are on their way, and especially we're setting everything up to give a try to our first ever playable boss fight!

Physical rewards on their way to you!

Finally, we've delivered the first batch of T-Shirts to our backers!

Since it's the first time we are dealing with this sort of stuff, we've decided to start with small batches (around 100 t-shirts has been shipped so far). We've detected a few things that could be run better, and that's exactly what we're going to try with the next one starting next week!

We're planning to have most of the physical rewards (with the exception of the Art Book, which content obviously won't be ready until the game is almost finished) delivered through the upcoming months.

Last call to complete Blasphemous' surveys!
over 6 years ago – Tue, Aug 29, 2017 at 08:35:00 AM

Hi friends!

We're back at the office from short summer holidays, and we're preparing to close the "late backing" period on Backerkit, and more importantly, to start the production and eventually shipping of the first batch of physical rewards!

All backers from Kickstarter (and Paypal) should have received an invitation link to our Backerkit platform, where a series of questions awaits our backers, regarding all the choices like the desired platform for the game, size, model and color of the t-shirt, and so on.

On September 1st we plan to lock the first batch of pledges, and we will process the first batch of physical rewards, so if you want to be among this first batch, we recommend you complete your surveys by then.

NOTE: If you haven't received the invitation email for some reason, simply visit http://blasphemous.backerkit.com and start the redeem process by indicating the email address used while backing the game (either your Kickstarter's or Paypal's email).

Development progress and what's next

The launch of Kickstarter coincided with the end of the aesthetics prototyping, which means that by the time we launched the campaign, we already knew 'how the game should look'. Provided we were funded -and thank you all, we did!- the next phase would be to determine exactly how the game should play.

This next stage will cover the rest of the year and will imply the construction of a second prototype, focused on gameplay mechanics, player progression, narrative, and exploration. We have clear intentions as you have read in our campaign materials, but we need to prove these ideas are actually worthy, by prototyping them.

Holidays period aside, this time since the campaign ended we have been mostly working on preparing for this new prototyping phase:

  • Designers have been writing the requirements documents.
  • Programmers, in the meanwhile, have been cleaning and refactoring the existing code to make it more robust, laying the base for future features to go on top of the existing ones.
  • And finally, we prepared and launched the support platform on Backerkit, to gather the info we need to produce the physical rewards.

If you want to know more about development progress, we plan to go into much more detail in our Discord server, so if you are interested, you can visit us here: https://discordapp.com/invite/gK5kd5p

Backerkit launches: Surveys for physical rewards and "slacker backing"
almost 7 years ago – Fri, Jul 21, 2017 at 12:37:52 AM

We are proud to announce that the post-campaign platform is now live on Backerkit!

We will be using this platform to gather your shipping address, reward choices and preferences, and as the single entry point for your redeemable digital downloads. Look for your invitation email (don't forget to look in your spam folder too!) and follow the link you'll found there.

Once you’ve registered on Backerkit, you'll be able to:

  • Respond to the survey regarding your platform preferences.
  • Respond to the survey regarding physical reward preferences such as choices of color, sizes, etc.
  • Download the welcome kit with wallpapers and ringtones.
  • And finally, download the anticipated aesthetic prototype, the first ever (and very incomplete) playable Blasphemous build we used to capture the Kickstarter trailer!

In the future, you will be notified by email when each new reward becomes available.

Important notes for backers!

  • For 25$+ backers: We will be using your first and second name in Backerkit as your “Name in the credits”. If you want something else being used, you’ll find a free Add-On in Backerkit you can add to your cart while completing the survey.
  • For 200$+ backers: You can choose you preferred physical reward in your survey. If you choose T-Shirt or Framed Scene, we will be manually adding some money to your balance, you’ll need to come back to the survey later and add the T-Shirt or Framed Scene add-on (using that added money so it’s free of charge), and then respond to the size/model choices for these add-ons.
  • All backers has access to the development Discord server! Find the URL to the server among the digital download. Once you are in the server, talk to the “BlasphemousKS” robot to learn how to get your corresponding backer’s specific roles.

Forgot to add something?

If you pledge for a base tier, you have a new chance to compliment your pledge with some add-ons. We have a couple of new ones, like grabbing a copy of our previous title ‘The Last Door’.

Support and Issues

If you selected the wrong reward (maybe you backed PC but wanted Consoles, or forgot to specify a reward level) you can issue a support ticket on Backerkit, and we will offer you a solution. On the other hand, if you can't find the Backerkit invitation and you should have one, please write us an email: [email protected]

Physical rewards production

Production of the first batches of physical rewards (T-Shirts, Framed Screenshots, and Statues) will start in September, so if you want to be among the first ones to receive them, make sure to answer the surveys on Backerkit as soon as possible.

Missed the chance to back the game?

We got you covered!

We are also launching a "last minute" campaign for one more month for those who didn't make it on time for the Kickstarter campaign, as well as the few who had payment processing problems with Kickstarter. The three base tiers are available: Penitent, Follower and Disciple, as well as all the other physical items which can be added on top of these.

Visit http://blasphemous.backerkit.com before August 31th, to join a community of 10,000 backers!

Secrets and Easter Eggs
almost 7 years ago – Mon, Jul 03, 2017 at 04:23:04 PM

The world of Blasphemous is full of secrets and Easter eggs. Most of them will be so subtle that they’ll go unnoticed by most players. We want to encourage players to engage in discussions about these mysteries of the game.

These are a few examples of the types of secrets we’re working on:

Hidden Areas

Sometimes you will find walls that are a bit odd. If you hit them with your sword, they will break and let you access a secret room or cave. Be mindful of your surroundings; the more interesting the content of a hidden room is, the more subtle the indications of the wall being breakable… Some secret areas and rooms will have no indications whatsoever, you will either find them by chance or learn about their existence from others!

Hidden Storylines

Most of Orthodoxia’s inhabitants will have at least one secret portion of dialogue that only triggers if a certain set of conditions are met in your playthrough. These complex interactions will always have an explanation within the lore of the game.

Non-obvious Uses for Items

Some of the items you can carry or equip will have a secondary use that is not obvious, nor mentioned directly in its description, although some of you might be able to pick up the subtle clues. Using these items in a particular location or situation will trigger an unexpected result.
